This project came from a tenant who had accidentally placed a hot pot on the kitchen benchtop. Within seconds, the laminate surface was scorched, leaving a dark, burnt mark that could not be cleaned or polished away. As the property was rented, the damage caused a lot of stress—the tenant worried about costly deductions and potential benchtop replacement.
They contacted multiple contractors for help, but the answer was always the same: the entire benchtop must be replaced. The price was high, and the process required removing cabinets, plumbing, and fixtures. Replacement simply wasn’t practical for a tenant.
The benchtop surface had deep heat damage. The burn penetrated the top layer, leaving visible black marks and texture distortion.
We conducted a detailed assessment of the burn area, carefully preparing the surface by levelling the damaged fibres and stabilising the surrounding material. Custom colour was mixed on-site to match the original tone and grain pattern of the benchtop.
Using specialised micro-repair and coating techniques, we rebuilt the damaged area layer by layer. After three hours of on-site restoration, the burn mark disappeared, and the surface looked consistent with the rest of the benchtop. The tenant was extremely relieved and satisfied with the result.
