This repair request came from an international student who had just adopted a small pet rabbit. The rabbit usually stayed inside its cage, but during a brief 10-minute moment of freedom, it chewed through a patch of carpet near the bedroom entrance. Panic set in immediately — the property was rented, and any visible carpet damage could result in a costly bond deduction.
She contacted several service providers, but all recommended cutting and replacing the damaged section, which required matching spare carpet material. Unfortunately, she had no leftover carpet, and cutting from inside the wardrobe was not an option due to the rental agreement. Eventually she reached out to us, searching for a non-replacement solution.
The carpet was missing fibres in a concentrated area, leaving an exposed patch that could not be concealed. Without spare carpet, traditional cut-and-replace methods were impossible.
We assessed the damaged section and selected fibre threads that matched the tone, texture, and density of the surrounding carpet. Using precise micro-stitch and fibre-placement techniques, we gradually rebuilt the missing area, recreating the original surface structure.
The restored section blended flawlessly with the existing carpet. The student was extremely relieved and happy — the repair eliminated what had been a major worry regarding her rental bond.
